Although the names have never been spoken officially, the names of the actors have been alleged by various sources. In a statement, the Academy committee decided to respond in kind while stating that they will look into the matter.

“It is the Academy’s goal to ensure that the awards competition is conducted in a fair and ethical manner, and we are committed to ensuring an inclusive awards process,” the statement reads. “We are conducting a review of the campaign procedures around this year’s nominees, to ensure that no guidelines were violated, and to inform us whether changes to the guidelines may be needed in a new era of social media and digital communication. We have confidence in the integrity of our nomination and voting procedures, and support genuine grassroots campaigns for outstanding performances.”

The Oscars and the Academy decided to hold a committee meeting set to take place on the 31st of January for the backlash from the people. According to various sources, it was actually the director of Andrea Riseborough’s movie that made the calls in hopes of gathering support for his indie film that failed at the box office.

Back in 2022, an indie movie by the name of To Leslie was released. The movie featured Andrea Riseborough as a single mother who turned into an alcoholic after earning a lottery amount. Her life began to take a turn for the better when a motel owner offers her a job.

Although the plot does sound like a fulfilling movie, To Leslie only managed to earn a meager $27,000 during its theatrical run. As per reports, the director of the film Michael Morris began to call famous personalities for a bit of promotion and marketing in hopes of making the film successful. The last-minute addition of Andrea Riseborough’s name in the Oscars nomination is also alleged to be part of the same marketing scheme.

Although it is unclear at the moment what they will do with the nominated Andrea Riseborough now. Andrea has been nominated for the “Best Actress Award” along with notable actors like Cate Blanchett, Ana de Armas, Michelle Williams, and Michelle Yeoh. The final decision rests with the Academy and the Oscars however, they may face backlash from the people if found guilty.
